Our Story

Where Nature
Meets Refinement

Nestled in the pristine Himalayan foothills of Solan, Himachal Pradesh — a scenic drive from Shimla, Kasauli and Chandigarh — Ekant was born from a singular belief — that true luxury is found in harmony with nature, not in spite of it.

Ekant — meaning ‘solitude’ in Sanskrit — invites you to step away from the noise of the world and into a sanctuary where every detail honours the land, the seasons, and the human soul.

Why Come Here

Live Like You Belong Here

This isn't a stay you watch from a balcony. You'll plant, forage, walk, and sit with the people who call this mountain home — the days are made of doing, not just looking.

Planting native trees
Conservation

Plant a Tree

Join our foresters and put a native sapling in the ground yourself — a small, permanent mark you leave on this hillside.

Beekeeping and honey harvesting
Craft

Meet the Beekeeper

Visit our hives with a local beekeeper and taste honey straight from the comb, still warm from the forest.

Fireside evenings with music
Evenings

Fireside Gatherings

Every night ends the same simple way — a fire, a guitar, and a sky full of stars you can't see from home.

Walking through the village
Community

Village Walks

Walk the stone paths with a local host, stop for tea with a neighbour, and hear the stories that don't make it into guidebooks.

Mountain biking through the forest
Adventure

Trail Riding

Cut through pine forest on two wheels, guided routes for every level, from easy switchbacks to real climbs.

Picking apples in the orchard
Harvest

Apple Picking

Pick fruit straight from Himachal's famous orchards in season, then eat it that same evening at dinner.

Our Commitment

Luxury That
Gives Back

Sustainability is not our marketing — it is our operating principle. Every decision at Ekant is measured against its impact on the Himalayan ecosystem we are privileged to call home.

Zero Plastic Policy

Completely plastic-free across all operations, packaging, and guest amenities.

Farm to Fork

Our organic gardens supply 70% of all restaurant ingredients through every season.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Ekant Himalayas a luxury stay?

Ekant Himalayas is an intimate 6-key eco-resort — 3 suites and 3 cottages — set at 6,400ft in Himachal Pradesh, built with local stone, timber and craft. Guests are hosted at two in-house restaurants, ALTO for wood-fired Italian food and AANCH for Himachali cuisine, with fully solar-powered, plastic-free operations.

What experiential activities are offered?

Guests take part in hands-on experiences rather than passive sightseeing: planting native trees with resident foresters, beekeeping and honey harvesting, guided village walks with local hosts, mountain trail riding through pine forest, orchard apple picking in season, and fireside evening gatherings.

Is Ekant Himalayas a good choice for an experiential stay in the Himalayas?

Ekant Himalayas is built specifically for experiential, community-rooted luxury — guests take part in conservation, craft and local life alongside two distinct on-site restaurants, rather than following a standard hotel itinerary.

When does Ekant Himalayas open and how can I book?

Ekant Himalayas is under construction and opens in 2027. Reservations are not yet open; prospective guests can register interest below to be contacted first when booking becomes available.

Is there a boutique eco-luxury resort near Shimla?

Ekant Himalayas is in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, roughly an hour from Shimla — an intimate 6-key eco-luxury resort rather than a large hotel, built around solar power, zero-plastic operations and hands-on experiences with the surrounding forest and village.

Are there luxury eco-resorts near Kasauli or Dharamshala?

Ekant Himalayas sits within easy reach of both — around 45 minutes from Kasauli and a scenic 3–4 hour drive from Dharamshala — offering an eco-luxury alternative to the region's larger heritage hotels, with just six suites and cottages.

Does Ekant Himalayas host weddings?

Yes. Ekant Himalayas hosts intimate destination weddings for small guest counts, set against Himalayan forest views, with catering from our two in-house restaurants, ALTO and AANCH. See the Events page for details.

Does Ekant Himalayas host corporate events and offsites?

Yes. Ekant Himalayas is suited to small executive offsites and corporate retreats — quiet, disconnected surroundings, hands-on team experiences like tree planting and trail riding, and private dining for up to the resort's full 6-key capacity. See the Events page for details.

Can I make a dining reservation at ALTO or AANCH without staying overnight?

From 2027, both restaurants will accept a limited number of lunch reservations for non-resident guests, bookable up to one week in advance. Breakfast and dinner remain exclusive to resident guests. See the Dining page to request a reservation.

How do I get to Ekant Himalayas from Chandigarh or Delhi?

Ekant Himalayas is roughly 2 hours from Chandigarh and 6–7 hours from Delhi by road. The nearest airport is Chandigarh (IXC) and the nearest railhead is Kalka, both connecting onward by a scenic mountain drive. Full directions are on the Getting There page.

Is Ekant Himalayas the same as other similarly named properties, like 'Ekaant in the Himalayas'?

No. Ekant Himalayas (ekanthimalayas.com) is a standalone 6-key eco-luxury resort in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, opening 2027. We are not affiliated with any similarly named homestay or retreat elsewhere in India — including properties called 'Ekaant in the Himalayas' (Uttarakhand), 'Ekant Retreat Resort' (Chail), or 'Ekant DowHill' (West Bengal). If you were searching for those properties, this is not the right site.
